Albania Earthquake

A devastating earthquake struck Albania on Tuesday November 26

The earthquake struck the heart of MWB’s work in Durres

The earthquake has rocked Durres, Albania killing over 50 people and destroying buildings across the city.

Our staff report people are suffering PTSD, with many afraid or unable to return home. All our sponsored families have been confirmed physically safe.

We are supporting people through the grief and helping those in need find shelter. Our ongoing work and relationships in Durres mean MWB will be supporting through the aftermath of the quake for the long term.

Monika Qerimi, Mission Without Borders Albania Director, says, “Durres will never be the same city again, not only because of the many ruined buildings, or the hundreds of flats evaluated and unsuitable for habitation, but because of so many lives lost, while so many other people remain unaccounted for. The overall situation is one of sadness and shock."

Help those affected by the earthquake

MWB is here for the long term

We are working alongside families impacted by the disaster and supporting the local church who is providing shelter. We are distributing food, clothes and hygiene items where needed. The emotional and spiritual support our team is providing is vital at such a time of crisis.

Please pray

“We know how great the power of prayer is, so we ask the MWB family worldwide to pray for Albania and especially Durres and the other affected areas so that our Mighty God's protecting hand is upon us in the following hours and days.” - Monika Qerimi, Mission Without Borders Albania Director

  • Pray for the rescuers who are working tirelessly to find people in the rubble
  • Pray for protection for our staff who are taking care of their own family and reaching out to those in need
  • Pray for those preparing the truck in Romania with more supplies
  • Pray for the people of Albania and that more people will be found safe

Help transform lives and bring hope for the future
