What is it?

A More Than Soup fundraiser is a fun and simple way to raise money for a hot nutritious meal for a child in poverty. By inviting your friends to a meal and asking them to donate, you can make a real difference to children in the Mission’s after school programme.

You decide the food to cook, who to invite and where to eat. We promise to help you with a Host Resource Pack to help your fundraiser be a success. What are you waiting for? Sign up now!

"It's really not too hard. We had fun and enjoyed being together" - 2019 Host

Victoria attends her local MWB After School Programme every day. Her mum abandoned her family so her dad works long hours and is unable to be at home often. So instead Victoria and her sister try their hardest to do all the household chores.

About our After School Programme

The money raised goes towards the soup kitchen in our after school programmes. In partnership with the local church our staff and volunteers provide for children five days a week so they don't have to go home to an empty house and are supported through their studies.

"For some of them, this is the only meal they get each day, being neglected by dysfunctional parents.”   - Soup kitchen cook

Our After School Programme is tailored to the area we work in and it's need. It usually includes a hot, nutritious meal, tutoring, life skills, fun, bible lessons and the love and care of our volunteers and staff.

“When they first arrive, children are either too silent, closed off, or on the contrary, aggressive and rude. Along the way, their behaviour visibly changes. It is beautiful what love, care and a good meal can do.” - Mihaela, after school programme volunteer

"My favourite thing here is hearing about God. Before, I used bad language if people used it towards me. But when you come here and hear about God, the bad habits fade. I like to do my homework here. Everyone treats me well. I'm surrounded by children, whereas at home, I feel lonely and I don't even have a desk.” - Victoria
